I looked in detail at both libamf and libnet, and it is clear that
neither of them is designed in a way that is usable in Gnash. If you
want a detailed explanation of why, I can tell you. Many of the
criticisms have already been made anyway.
Rewriting RTMP handling with a new design was quicker than changing
libnet to be suitable for Gnash. I also have no interest in working on
cygnal code, which would be necessary if I changed the RTMP interface.

The students were aware that I was going to rewrite RTMP, and now have
something to work with in NetConnection.
