Hi,

Fuse module is definitely loaded:

#lsmod | grep fuse
fuse 80688 0

Fuse library and module version are 2.7.4.
The exact same modules work fine in the full environment the init root is built from so it sounds likely that there is a library or some such missing, but there is nothing in the logs or on the console that says what.

I'll put the kernel and initrd images somewhere where you an download them from (they're too big to email, initrd is about 45MB). I'll email you off list with the partition layout it expects in the VMware Server 2.0 VM on /dev/sda and the URL where the kernel/initrd can be downloaded from later tonight.

Thanks for your help.

Gordan

        Hi,

I'm trying to get gluster mounted very early for use as root fs
(chroot from initrd). But I seem to get the above error in the
log, and the FS doesn't get mounted.

Also tested when booting with init=/bin/bash. The backing store
is there, as is the target directory, but glusterfs just won't
mount. No glusterfs process or mount entry, or any other errors.

The same volume spec file works fine after the machine has
booted normally (into a different spare root FS), and I can use
it to mount the file system.

Any suggestions where I should be looking for the problem? I'm
        using glusterfs-1.3.12.

        Thanks.

        Gordan
