I take it that means that you performed the actions described in the
installation instructions, namely:

  $ chicken-install -s apropos chicken-doc
  $ cd `csi -p '(chicken-home)'`
  $ curl | sudo tar zx

And does any other scheme (Guile, Racket, etc.) work?
