Yes it could be a useful option for the 'view' menu. But today you have to deal 
with Gigabytes in any unknown number of subfolders. For example, my images + 
fotos folder alone have 2500 subfolders with 56,000 files. And i have many more 
of this class. You see the problem. So, probably an on-the-fly switch (by key 
shortcut) would be needed.

As humble workaround, try pressing spacebar (whitespace) on a folder. It works 
only for the actual selected one though.
