No, I don't insist on restoring --enable-gmp=no option.
I found out that gmp=no no longer works trying to compare
how GCL allocates memory for new gmp and old style
bignums.  This is just for the sake of experiment.

Yes, this option is no longer functional.  I will comment it out of
configure -- we require gmp at least for the present.  Please let me
know if this is inadvisable for anyone.

It seems that something is seriously wrong with --enable-gmp=no option
(gcl 2.6.1 and 2.7 CVS). Make aborts almost instantly.
