Somebody else having problems logging onto o2's pathetic attempt of a
website forwarded me the attached message.

Dear John,

Thank you for contacting O2 Customer Service.

A Mozilla-based browser is a web browser that is based on the Mozilla Open
Source movement, and makes use of the Gecko layout engine which is at the core
of the software.

In response to your query, I would like to request you to access our website
through Internet Explorer 6.0 as you may experience some problems if you open
O2 website through mozilla.

However, our engineers are working on high priority to resolve this issue.

For further help regarding mozilla browser, please refer to the following link:

http://www.mozilla.org/support/

In the past there was much competition as to who could create the most popular
web browser. With no set standards this produced a range of browsers that were
not compatible with each other and meant that website had to be written in
several different versions to ensure it could be viewed by most browsers used.
The end result were heavy web pages that would take a long time to load and
lengthy processes for developing, updating and publishing web pages that
followed complicated java script in order for different people to be sent
different versions of each page. In short this process was inefficient and made
the overall web experience slow.

Eventually the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), a non-profit organization
charged with overseeing the continuing development of the web, stepped in and
created a set of open web standard to be followed by anyone creating new web
browsers. This allowed the web to work more efficiently for everyone involved;
web pages could be developed easily with more dynamic content and users could
have a better user experience. The catch was that consumers had to migrate over
to these newer versions to see web pages accurately. This has happened for the
majority of O2 users, however, there are still small percentages that have not.
If you are viewing this page than you are within this group.

For you to gain the best from www.o2.co.uk, you will need to upgrade your web
browser for free with an up to date version via the links provided below. Once
you have done this you will start to see improvements throughout the web.
