Hello
I am looking at using something like the Infinality patches to Freetype as the
basis for a desktop environment for developing webfonts, i.e. i' want the
ability of switching types of hinting & antaliasing in Freetype to 'emulate'
different OS rendering states. So i can test fonts for different OS states from
one desktop.
Ideally i want to have a small widget that, with a menu + mouse click, can
switch rendering modes on the fly - like the gnome 'appearance - fonts'
switcher but able to tweak a lot more than just hinting, antialias, simple lcd
filter.
So... are there any aspects of the Freetype rendering engine that cannot be
switched on the fly? What needs restart of the x-server?
Any advice / info much appreciated.
many thanks
vernon
