Yeah - that sounds right. I had to make patches to both places in my code 
to make it work with .dfonts. Note that SOME fonts DO have multiple FOND 
resources. I had to make extensive fixes to get it to work "right", and 
even then it had problems with certain fonts (crashing, etc). I had to give 
up and implement my stuff with ATSUI.

I had submitted my fixes previously - but I can send someone my changes to 
2.1.3 if interested.
