Subject: | [ft-devel] Two autohinter 2.3.4 -> CVS regressions |

Hello, I noticed two rendering regressions when upgrading from freetype 2.3.4 to CVS-2007-06-16. All tests were done with autohinter on, at 96dpi. The regressions are apparent in both ftview and kwrite. 1. Arial 9pt (don't know which version, how do I check it?). The glyphs look wider and '8' is asymmetric. The distance is not really even. T is asymmetric at 10pt and S got a longer tail (10pt too). The attached screenshots show Arial 9pt, where '8' and the distance between 0 and 1 really shows itself. These problems were not present in version 2.3.4. 2. Sylfaen 8pt (bundled with xp I think). This font is universally used for displaying Georgian glyphs in most Linux and windows systems. The Georgian letters look much worse than in 2.3.4. More blurry, and some of them have these thickness problems - the Georgian letter m (მ) (that's the 12th letter in Georgian alphabet - the 4-th letter in the last row of ft2007-06-16_sylfaen8_96dpi_autohint.png) has this defect in thickness, which was not there in 2.3.4. I attached the relevant screenshots, I hope that's not a problem. If it is, please inform me. Thanks, Alexander
