Rotating auto-hinted glyphs in v. 2.3.4 |

Hi,
We are currently using the FreeType
library version 2.1.10. We attempted to switch to version 2.3.4 primarily
for the improvements in auto-hinting, but gave up because we had problems
with transforming glyphs hinted using the auto-hinter. If the glyphs have
no associated transform, they still display with no problems. The transform
is applied to the glyph outline using FT_Glyph_Transform.
The transform matrix is calculated the same way for both cases.
This is an illustration of the problem
for a glyph from the DFKai font (using the FreeType 2.3.4 library).
Glyph rotated by 90 degrees, patented
hinting (correct)
Glyph rotated by 90 degrees, auto-hinting
Do you have any suggestions as to what
might be the problem, and if there is something we could do to correct/work
around it? Any ideas would be much appreciated.
I would be happy to provide more information
if needed.
Thanks,
Luiza Solomon
