Yes, the patches apply against vanilla sources.

Afaics Xprint in X.Org 6.9.0 does use Freetype internals, but it seems to be
no problem, at least none that is apparent.

The fontconfig patch is copied from
http://freetype.sourceforge.net/freetype2/patches/fontconfig-2.3.2-noftinternals.patch
,
with file names adapted for X.Org 6.9.0; one patch for
xc/lib/fontconfig/Imakefile was added.
The Xfont patch is copied from
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=6033 (Bug #6918), also with
adapted file names.
