Hi,
I think autohint is not so good for complex and square characters
(i.e. Chinese and Japanese).
See two pictures:
// Disable autohint (good)
http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Cupertino/5207/snapshot/freetype-disable_autohint01jp.png
// Enable autohint (bad)
http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Cupertino/5207/snapshot/freetype-enable_autohint01jp.png

But autohint is better if we show european characters:
// Disable autohint (bad)
http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Cupertino/5207/snapshot/freetype-disable_autohint02en.png
// Enable autohint (good)
http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Cupertino/5207/snapshot/freetype-enable_autohint02en.png
(see "unit-to-unit")

I want to use autohint for european characters, but I don't want to use it for
non-european characters. Is it possible?
I got a mail from Frederic Crozat (at Mandrakesoft):
> I strongly suggest you get in touch with Freetype developer on freetype-
> devel for bugs report and tests for CJK and freetype. There aren't many
> CJK people there, which is probably why those patches never get merged
> usptream
There are other good patches?

I'm using freetype2-current (20040901).
Font = Cyberbit

Thank you for your great work. :-)
