We had similar report when compiling freetype 2.1.7 with gcc 3.3 and
with optimisations higher than -O on x86 platform. It was probably a gcc
bug since problem disappeared with gcc 3.4 + freetype 2.1.8/2.1.9 (I
haven't done tests with 2.1.7).
