RH 6.1, gcc 2.95.1, yes

compiling the demos, the buggy command generated from the Makefile is
cc -c -O0 -g -I../config/unix -I../include -I../src/base -Wall -W -ansi -Igraph
-I -o obj/grinit.o
graph/grinit.c \
i.e. it seems the '-I' without path and the trailing '\' are erroneous.
Anyway, the problem varies. All I can say is that one of the command lines
generated by make when substituting the patterns/macros/defines in the Makefile
is wrong. For example I once saw my 'PATH' environment variable as an argument
to 'cc'...
