First, let me apologize for not answering sooner - I was absent for a few
days and then needed some more time to plow through the spam I was
innundated with in the meantime.

Help with African characters is more than welcome, as I definitely lack 
experience in this area.

The best way to contribute also depends on you. If you are familiar with 
CVS (your CV hints that you probably are :) I can grant you CVS access. If 
you are however for some reason not willing to go through this ordeal, you 
can also send the files to me for check-in.
