While MIDI (GM, sysex etc.) is great (after all these years), it would be a pity to exclude OSC. One thing is evident about OSC: OSC is a kind of "wireless MIDI" which would be a great feature. Using both MIDI and OSC is great to have: lots of sequencer applications now do this; for example, ardour <http://ardour.org> . . . but there is also fluidsynth-dssi :-)
