About 9 months ago I reported some strange behaviour when a large
sound font was loaded into fluidsynth, in this case the SONiVOX 250 meg
font. All the longer duration cymbal sounds were replaced by the short
cymbal sounds (high hat etc). I also reported it to SONiVOX
since the problem could just as easily be with the font itself. They didn't
seem too interested, so I avoided the longer duration cymbals.
I have found another problem which is much harder to ignore. When the
SONiVOX sound font is loaded into fluidsynth, pitch bends are ignored.
Not only does an explicit call to fluid_synth_pitch_bend or
fluid_event_pitch bend do nothing, but the fluidsynth player ignores all
pitch bends in a midi file. (can sound pretty weird!) I should also
point out that while I was unable to get the explicit pitch bend call to
work with a small font (ct4mgm.sf2) as per the example in the docs, the
player had no problem with pitch bends midi files.
I would like to know if this problem occurs on other platforms and/or other
large fonts, and whether anyone could speculate on the owner of the problem.
