Sounds like a really cool project you are working on.  The idea of
having a stand alone instrument device is quite attractive.

Currently the voice stealing could use some work.  This was discussed
before, and I had said I would do something about it, but that has not
yet happened.  Voice stealing does occur as far as I know, but not
necessarily in the best fashion.  To set the polyphony do something like
this in the shell:
> set synth.polyphony 64

Or from the command line you can pass "-o synth.polyphony=64".
