I generally agree with what you are saying.  I also think there is a
difference between recording a sound rendered by a hardware synth and
ripping the digital samples from it.  Of course most of us feel that
copyright laws are out of control, but I also would like to avoid issues
when it comes to that "grey" area.  For now I think it is probably very
appropriate to try to prevent copyrighted digital samples from being
posted to the Resonance Instrument Database.  Recording the audio output
of a synth seems like fair game to me, but I'm no lawyer, thank gawd.
