This is a known problem of the ESPResSo version you are using. Attached,
you'll find an up-to-date version of the file "vtf.tcl". Replace the
file scripts/vtf.tcl of your ESPResSo souce code with this file, and the
problem should be gone.
I do not believe that you have this problem when you use writepdb.
