Hmm. I don't usually work with deadlines (isn't it fun being a
teacher?), but when I do, I add "by YYYY.MM.DD" to my task. There's no
automatic warning or listing yet, but it should be possible to list
all tasks matching a certain regular expression, and then using some
kind of sort routine to do the trick.

Incidentally, you can tell your diary to display N days in advance.
You can have a separate diary file for deadlines, too.
