I agree with Richard: authors of packages don't necessarily think
about what's best for Emacs as a whole, and that we shouldn't expect
them to do so.  They are responsible for the packages they develop,
not for the development of Emacs as a whole.  I don't understand why
this is seen as some kind of negative or derogatory remark.  It is
just the consequence of the person's interests and responsibilities.
