Maybe you say that because (inheriting from
`minibuffer-local-map') they default to
`(next|previous)-line-or-history-element'?
`M-n' and `M-p' are sufficient for that, IMO.
`C-n' and `C-p' are enough for moving down/up
lines of multiline input.
