It's a very lazy reply that can be tailored to almost any situation when you don't want to see something changed.

"I don't want some overlord [e.g. the author of a change proposal] determine for me what I <...> want"!

No, we don't want all the Emacs Lisp Mode facilities. We only want some of them, and others, we want at least slightly modified.
