Then please identify the customization(s) which cause(s) the slowdown
when displaying only the beginning of simple.el, and tell what they
are.

That this doesn't happen in "emacs -Q" should have been told at the
very beginning of this discussion, because up to now all the responses
were completely irrelevant to the real problem.
