It's a question of which direction is "forward".
I want to move forward on the GNU Project, of which GNU Emacs
is a part.

Most of the time, making Emacs better to use is exactly the way Emacs
can move the GNU Project forward, but once in a rare while there's an
exception.  Someone posted a list of four cases that have occurred
in GNU Emacs over three decades.
