If the change causes no problems at all, it could be worth while
to fix such a minor problem.

But it will cause problems, with searching -- unless we implement a
fix for that.  People are discussing a different but related search
feature; perhaps the search problem for disguised curly quotes will be
eliminated.  But until it is, we should not use curly quotes in doc
strings.
