This would work in Perl (among other places); in Emacs you just drop the
\. That is, type
C-M-s ) $
(You needn't include the .* unless you want to match the whole line.)
In Elisp, type
")$"
as the regexp. (No //.)
> /^[^\t]+\t/
Keyboard: C-M-s ^ [ ^ TAB ] + TAB
Elisp: "^[^\t]+\t" (exactly what you wrote, without the // delimiters.
