    As I know, people have talked about replacing Applescript with

Can you explain what it means to "replace Applescript with Javascript"?
Do you mean changing MacOS to get rid of Applescript entirely?
Or making Emacs use Javascript on GNU-like systems the same way it
uses Applescript on MacOS?
