I get the same error, using MinGW binutils on emacs.exe that I've built myself. It only happens with emacs.exe, so it is probably something in the dumping process confuses strip. My strip --version is:
GNU strip 2.17.50 20060824If anyone has strip.exe working with emacs.exe, could you post your strip version here for comparison.
