    That would be great.  It has been suggested that Emacs should use the new 
    Gnome icons (http://people.freedesktop.org/~jimmac/).  It would be so much 
    easier if we just could copy the png images.

I think that would cause more trouble than it is worth, because not
all systems have development versions of png libraries installed (as I
recently found).
