OTOH, the best method, results-wise, would be for everyone who did a
commit in the last week or so to check whether their code is in, and
re-commit if not. We're talking of about three or four days of
changes; it's not that big of a problem after all.

The obvious downside is that it'll be a PITA for people who did many,
or complex, commits because they'll have to disentangle them from one
another or from other people's changes :(
