Using the latter, I got the following error message while trying to
revert the *Locate* buffer (cut and pasted from *Messages*):

"/usr/local/share/emacs/22.0.50/lisp/net/tramp.elc",

"/usr/local/share/emacs/22.0.50/lisp/net/tramp.elc", 
"/usr/local/share/emacs/22.0.50/lisp/net/tramp.elc"

The *Locate* buffer was not reverted.
