Yes, click and drag and mouse-2, mouse-3 are used in UIs.  Firefox is a 
good example of different things that are done with this:
* mouse-3 brings up a context menu that is used for customization
* mouse-2 opens a page in a new tab
* click and drag is used to move toolbar items around when in "customize 
toolbar" mode.

In short, yes, it would be useful to distinguish between different 
button presses in toolbars (and in the menus as well).
