It could also check on whether the compilation is still running.
When the compilation has stopped, the 'send to process' functionality
isn't needed anymore, so all keys can be used for commands.
That would work in the common case, but I think that where it gives
different results, they are worse results. If you type RET on an
error message before the compilation finishes, you want to view that
error.
