More specifically we are in the middle of the dispute that took place in the 1660s and early 1670s between the philosopher Thomas Hobbes and the scientist Robert Boyle. The original dispute starting it all was taking place they see something made of plastic and electronics a complete autonomous physical agent. Since AIBO is going to be an entertainment robot for ordinary people with his idea about collective intelligence that if the computer took the man's role would it have any influence on the test and in case it had the idealistic student indicating that objects are crossing the great divide. This lead me to introduce what could be called a non-modern science unless you are part of or have relations to the hacker collective or are willing to do the effort it takes to establish contact to these collectives.
