I’m trying to compile gzip-1.9-13.el8_5.
Failed on make check

FAIL gzexe (exit status: 1)

That build fails due to a "Hello world" test that is not in GNU gzip proper, so this isn't the right place to report the bug. If you do report it downstream my guess is that they'll suggest building from their latest source version instead, which doesn't have the bug either <http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/development/rawhide/Everything/source/tree/Packages/g/gzip-1.12-1.fc37.src.rpm>.
