"To use a service account, go to the Google developers console at https://console.developers.google.com.
Create a project, and make sure Drive API is enabled for the project. In the "Credentials" section,
click "Create credentials", then select Service Account with JSON key."
....
The alternative is to use a regular account. To do this, start as above, but when creating a new
Client ID, select "Create OAuth client ID", with application type of "Desktop
app". Download the client_secret.json file for the new client, and set the
GOOGLE_CLIENT_SECRET_JSON_FILE environment variable to the path to this file, and
GOOGLE_CREDENTIALS_FILE to a path to a file where duplicity will keep the authentication token -
this location must be writable.

hey William,
if you already accessed your file via GDrive, i'd say the Drive API is enabled
already. did you try the steps outlined in the man page? also i don't see no
directive
"Create a project, and make sure Drive API is enabled for the project."
in the man page section "A NOTE ON GDRIVE BACKEND"
https://duplicity.us/stable/duplicity.1.html#a-note-on-gdrive-backend

Thanks Edgar
But those instructions are how to setup/create the backend initially if one
doesn't already have an account.
"Create a project, and make sure Drive API is enabled for the project."
But I already have a project with pydrive.
I'm not sure how to take the project/account/credentials I already have and
translate them for use by gdrive.

I have been using pydrive for 6+ years, as documented in the V8 manual page
(https://duplicity.nongnu.org/vers8/duplicity.1.html).
No mention there that pydrive is not to be used.
Is there a cookbook instructions on how to convert the pydrive commands/setup
to gdrive.
I use DUPLY to drive the backups, so the necessary EXPORT and file specs are in
the DUPLY conf file.

Hi all,
Does anyone use the pydrive backend anymore? This would be a URL schema of "pydrive://",
"pydrive+gdocs://" or "gdocs://"
It was replaced with the gdrive backend a couple of years ago. Before we
deprecate it I was just trying to find out if there was anyone still using it.
And how?
...Thanks,
...Ken
