It should, but I wouldn't count on it and keep a 0.5.20 handy. Check

The same. If you used '--old-filenames', '--short-filenames' or such, this
could be troublesome.
Generally. The version number raise is a signal to you. Major changes happend,
so a new full backup starting a chain to a new folder on your backend using a
clean archive dir will keep the headaces away.
For the restoring part. It worked for me (just was curious). It doesn't have to
for you. So either try it out or keep 0.5.20 somewhere.
