Mostly a very pragmatic philosophy: We don't reinvent any wheels
which are round, only the square ones. (Credit for inventing that
slogan belongs to Gopal). What this means is that if something is
available already as GPL-compatible Free Software, and it's usable
and portable enough, then we're not interested in creating a "me
too" separate implementation except if we have an idea how to do
it much better.
There's already a bunch of stuff including SharpZipLib, Npgsql,
ByteFX.Data in the ml-pnet module... if you're interested in
volunteering to help make more stuff available that'd be appreciated.
