OK, it seems to be working fine; I could only test it on Cygwin and MinGW but there's no reason why it wouldn't work on Unix. Unfortunately, I haven't had the time to add support for temp. files, my main goal with this patch (which is by the way my first for this project :) was to get PNet up and running on MinGW.

Give it a try and see what happens. If it doesn't break anything, we'll probably apply the patch. There's a lot of old crufty system code in "cscc" that should probably be moved down into "support".

That code in "cscc/common" probably also needs to be modified to use a regular spawn on systems without pipes, writing the data out to a temporary file.
