I too had this problem a while back, but unfortunately never got to the 
root cause. I had some correspondance with someone who had the same kind 
of error doing a build for a completely different application, he only 
solved it by re-installing Windows! No thanks, that's not the way to do it.

I've basically given up on that for now, unless a few people make a bug 
report I don't think much will be done at Cygwin.
