These are mostly religious and philosphical battles. I always resisted 
slack.. my primary reason is that I don't like "yet another thing to 
check". Yet another program. And separate for each project.

This time I just joined to check how it is and follow this very active 
group which might be of interest for GNUstep.
To be very honest, I dislike it, it is dispersive. I will stay for now 
to see if there is development, butI am considering cancelling my 
subscription.
The "group" discussions are quite bad.

Email is very good I think, but lacks the interactive part which is of 
use for direct communication. IRC is not a proposable solution, it is 
blocked in most corporate environments.

For now I wait and observe. Hyping "open source development methods" is 
of o use either. Since when I need an interactive session with somebody, 
I will resort to Skype, FaceTime or similar, because the alternatives 
are totally inferior or not even offering similar functionality or are a 
mess to setup. A bit of practical touch is needed. Especially waiting 
for the open source to improve.
