I'm wondering why this was marked as spam.

I have received mails from other mailing lists which were also marked as spam (even my own). So it might be some misevaluation by blacklisting data. I have manually removed it from the subject so that it won't be copied again.

I'll post it again if it was marked as such as it's very important to get the word out.

I did mention your work on QuantumStep and the phone that you've built.

Fine! Thanks.

The issue IndiePhone is trying to solve is different than issue yours was trying to solve.

The problem is that they are not open enough to really describe what they are planning and doing. So it is difficult to comment that (without introducing speculation).

IndiePhone is trying to fix the issue of privacy on mobile devices.

In general the Openmoko and OpenPhoenux communities tried and still try to solve the same issues, but we learned that it is such a huge problem to make everything right from the beginning that one problem must be solved after the other. This might make it look as if there is not the same goal.

I will be looking at the optimizations that exist in QuantumStep for guidance as I move forward on this project.

Ah, did they invite you to work for indiephone?

Nikolaus

Hey guys.  Just wanted to let you all know that the indie tech summit was a success. GNUstep may play a large part in the indie phone.

It is difficult to find out what they are really doing, so I hope that they got an understanding that QuantumSTEP is much better optimised for a phone GUI than standard GNUstep…

Please see http://ind.ie/phone

I'll give you guys more details via postings here and on my blog.  At the moment I am on a bus back to Heathrow airport.

Brighton is a fascinating town. It was a pleasure staying there.  I can't wait to visit England again.

:)

Nikolaus
