Re: compile problem: undefined symbol: XShmQueryVersion

I think I entered a typical type of problems newbie usually gets them
trapped in with trail-and-trail method of using a new complicated software.
Frustrated at the low performance of arts (drag-and-drop almost doesn't
work, for example) and incorrect display of characters of cairo I opt for
back-xlibs, which isn't offered by debian official packages. I try to
compile my own, failing at building guide I opt for startup script, and
failing that, I decide to tolerate the slowness of back-arts and
re-installed packages from debian repository -- after that I found I can no
longer run gworkspace (error message attached), thinking perhaps I need to
remove the stuff installed with previous build-guide, but don't know how to.
I would have re-installed the OS if I could (I am running on a special
device that doesn't boot from DVD and other method to re-install OS seems
more challenging).

Now I am totally confused and don't know where to go. I guess manage to get
the GWorkspace from Debian official package should be the priority to get a
usable system, so here is the error message (sorry it is line-wrapped,
