I received this rather strange e-mail today...could be complete
rubbish but the section on WebObjects may be of interest to GSWeb
people...
Graham.

A friend with close contacts in Cupertino told me that Steve
will announce on Monday that WebObjects is to be open sourced!
The product simply hasn't achieved a high enough profile, despite
its technical excellence, and they're hoping that by taking this step
they will attract a lot of attention for WO in the wider developer
community (ie. not just amongst Apple developers).
He also said that Tiger will definitely feature a major overhaul
of the file system: in particular a very fast database filesystem
has been implemented, called HFS-X ('X' is either for OS X or
"eXtreme").
Finally, all the rumors about the G5 iMac are indeed premature:
Steve has yet to decide whether to announce it in Paris, or
at a special event in August: it largely depends on how successful
the manufacturing ramp-up and initial Quality Assurance results
are over the next fortnight. The industrial design is being kept
top-secret, of course, but has been described as a "radical evolution
of the current iMac", rather than a complete re-design. Whatever
that means!
