Hi,

Pascal provoked a question I would like to give. Maybe it is just
different point of view on things...

Can be OpenStep thought as something like next generation POSIX
(Portable Operating System Interface)? With the layer such as POSIX
or OpenStep you get everything you need to develop
applications. Each of them for applications appropriate for
corresponding time (technology age).

Well, maybe the words 'next generation' are not quite
appropriate. Evethough, what do you say?

Yes, I was thinking:
"... portability and common API such as POSIX or OpenStep."

So in other words ... POSIX layer|subsystem|environment on top of unix|windows,
can be compared to OpenStep/GNUstep layer|subsystem|environment on
unix|windows. Of course, GNUstep provides higher level tools.

Or am I wrong?
