I can't really tell what kind of system you have. However, it looks like you have the libiconv library installed. You should get rid of this, since glibc has iconv support, and it's probably the headers from the libiconv installation that are screwing this up.

Thanks, you were right. The configure script for something that I was building a few weeks ago complained about not finding libiconv, thats why I had it installed. (Sorry about the vague system info, Slackware9 btw, not that it matters now.).
