Hi Pascal, -
| Galileo too is already taken. It's the name of the European GPS
| system. The american one has no name, only G.P.S. The russian is
| GLONASS.
well, like Magellan, Galileo is the name of a person. AFAIK there is no
open source project that has that name - but there is a Magellan project.
Galileo is a pretty well used name for all kinds of stuff. In Germany
alone, there are: a sience TV show, schools, a publisher, web design, etc.
I don't see much problem with using this name for an open source
project. My concerns about Magellan are only that it may lead to
confusion with the other project called Magellan.
| In addition, when you're only one subclass to another system, you'd
| better find a generic or an independant name.
Actually, GALILEO is an independent system, but GPS and GALILEO can
improve each other as the navigational devices may use both signals.
GALILEO was my reason for suggesting the name Galileo in the first place.

Yes, I already suggested Navigat[or/ion] or Position - which I like both
very much.
Something with Map or Drive might be good, too. I would vote against
Location.app, personally associating some kind of network profile
manager with it.
*Please* don't use GS*. Having a prefixing G is what lead to Alex'
concerns in the first place.
Adding another 2 cents to the pile,
- - Martin
