versions. Copy-protection is really a waste of time for the company,
and an annoying thing for the legal user.
Three advantages of copy protection:
1) For the user applying a crack, he undoubtly knows he is doing
something illegal.
2) For the paying user, it supports the feeling the company is doing
something against hackers.
3) If the software becomes indeed popular (and cracked), you already
have a lot of paying customers, so your investment is returned.
This doesn't require some super special mechanism. Implementing a
simple protection is a matter of a few minutes. Use it in a lot of
locations, so the cracker has a lot of work.
